8 years Ago Today, I was....

Within my first month of starting my new job in a warehouse, making a trip to the local dump, off loading damaged pallets...

At first I thought someone was joking, a fellow co-worker.  Then, upon returning, we had a little 13 inch black and white TV...where the images transfixed us into a state of shock.

Calling Betterhalf at her job, work stopped - as a TV was turned on in one of the conference rooms.

Much prayer occurred that terrible day...many people were lost and confused.

I give fair warning at this Tribute Video, as portions are rather graphic.  I provide it in this post not to obtain extra traffic, but rather that we should not forget those who died on that tragic day and how they died.

So, where were you 8 years ago today?
A Movie Not Yet Released in the United States

Allow me to share with you a moment in time...

Many people ask me what it's like to be a Father of a boy who has Autism.  My pat response is usually, "it's parenting - squared.  We do the same things that parents of "normal" children to...and then some extra stuff."

It's difficult to describe Autism, after all,  Autism is really a spectrum.  Each person with Autism is different...and no two people with Autism are exactly the same.

However, there's a few similarities....

There's not that much information out there that could really put things into perspective for friends and family that don't understand what living with this disorder is all about.  And the internet is ripe with various opinions in regards to treatments available...

And like the disorder being a spectrum, so are the treatments...no one main treatment works for all that deal with the disorder.

As an Editor for Autisable.com, I was contacted by someone who likes the site, and what we've done with The Horse Boy movie promotion.  I was offered another movie to view, and see if I'd be interested in promoting this other movie.

It's called, The Sunshine Boy.  And all I have to say is that it puts to film many of the struggles and triumphs that several people have gone through.  It's a documentary, chronicling the journey of one mom's quest to learn more about Autism...from those who are experts in the field.

Within the first 40 minutes, I had more of an understanding of the complexity of the Autism Spectrum then ever before....and I've been learning about it for several years.

Here's a Trailer for the movie:

Again, it's not yet released in the United States...but when it does, I sure hope many people see it/rent it/watch it.

The Sunshine Boy brings light into the world of Autism, and into your heart.  A definite must see.

It finally Came...

Several weeks ago, I hosted a giveaway that was sponsored by uprinting.com.  Yeah, one of my sponsors for the Brain Fried Network.

As a blogger who is sponsored, I was blessed by also receiving the same giveaway as the winner (Saintvi).

So, I thought I'd look for a picture that fit well with a 49er themed room...
but, can't copy 49er and NFL logos...some legal thing ya know...

But, I found a site: www.talkephotography.com  and e-mailed them about one picture I wanted...
The Golden Gate Bridge.  I received a response from Pete, the guy who's site it is, and who has an amazing talent at both photography and art.

If you're big on travel blogs, he's got a great one...in fact, I hope the guys at tripcrazed pick Pete up...(I forwarded them his information).

Anyways, Pete and I talked a bit, and he blessed me with the picture to have Uprinting.com print onto stretched canvas, and then they'd ship it.  THANKS PETE, I'm Humbled at your generosity!

Here's the saga of the package arrival - and thanks to all who made it possible!

This took a couple of weeks, but we got it done, and the packaged arrived yesterday.

Now, Chatting with Saintvi about her print (see this post), I was warned on the level of packaging that it would take...  here's the second stage...

Now, working in inventory and logistics for over 15 years, I've seen packaging of all types - and this one made me really impressed.  Although it was still a challenge to get to that center package within the package...

And yet, even after all that unwrapping, there was one more layer to peel away...

Yep, that last bit of paper...and then viola!  Presto! and here it is!!!

Expect more giveaways soon from this cool sponsor...and more information about them...

Until later, I'm off to work on the room that will become known as the 49er room.
