Journaling therapy articles and ideas for starting and keeping a personal journal. Information on how journaling improves health. Therapeutic Journaling helps us move out of our head with its highly critical overthinking anxious worrying and return to living in, communicating continuously with (on a first name basis) with our body.
We journalers
have our ways of running from the page and somehow we survive. But to reap the
rewards of living a better life than what we?ve had, we must take a chance again
of journal writing, journal writing, journal writing every single day not
somewhere down the road. (Thanks, Mr. Manilow.)
Try any, some, or all of these Journaling Jumpstarters:
1.Get a pen and notebook, date your entry and put down
this line, ?The Cure is here. The Healing has begun? and then write, write,
write away. When you're done, write down how you FEEL about this journaling
experience!
2.Begin with "Why does ___ (fill in a name) drive me crazy?" Date your entry
& write away to discover more about your Self.
3.Pick a song. Use some of its lyrics to
start a new journal entry. Or choose a song you love and write your own lyrics!
4.First, date your entry. Then write:
'Oh, I Could Never...' and be aware of what's going on in your body as you
write. What is your body trying to tell you?
5.Wander all
around a bookstore or library. Pick out and open any book. Wherever your eyes
land, use that phrase as a journal entry starter and write, write, write.
6.Have a ten-minute freewriting
huddle with your Inner Coach. Just write, write, write down his/her words of
wisdom. Interesting stuff, n'est ce pas?
In their newsletter article, ?How to Create the Voice of an Inner Coach? SelfMatters presents 8 ways to quiet the Inner Critic and invent an Inner Coach. To which I?ll add a 9th way:
Use your journal therapy routine to dialogue with your Inner Coach. When you take a compassionate, curious approach to interviewing him, he?s sure to share his Super Bowl winning playbook with you.
Keeping a journal has become a vital and integral part of my life. It began right after I met my husband Bill, a life changing event. The adventurous, multi-dimensional life we were beginning to create was worth the written word. My journal writing journey chronicled our growing relationship which eventually led to births of our two daughters, prompting me to create journals for each of them.
I used the pages in my personal journal to revel in my victories, vent my motherly angst, and define who I was becoming and who I wanted to be. Writing honestly about whatever circumstance I was in helped to reveal attitudes, emotions, and even dreams. This process became part of my routine, a practice I looked forward to. Journaling cleared the mental cobwebs and aided me in renewing my goals and life purpose.
My spiritual journey took on new dimensions as I kept a scripture lesson journal highlighting insights I received and considered worth remembering.
My journal has become a fertile place, a seed starter to grow essays, devotionals, and poetry. I often use it to plan stories and plant ideas for writing and life enhancement.
I have also used it to review events and look back to see God?s hand of provision, faithfulness, and protection. Answers to prayer have now become a written testimony, a legacy to pass on to the next generation.
I highly value my journal writing time as I use it to record and wrap up each day, giving me clearer perspective on the next step in my journey. With each entry, I record the day, date, and a.m. or p.m. for future reference. My journal gives me a place to ruminate and consider things in detail, which aids me in making better choices for myself and my family. Overall, I keep a better attitude when I?ve taken the time to record my thoughts each day. When I skip a day, I can sense when it?s missing and feel like I have catching up to do. My evening journaling relieves me of mental stress and helps me sleep better at night.
If you?re considering getting started with keeping a journal, just take itone day at a time. Keeping a written record of your struggles, of important life events, and even the smallest ideas that come to you isa healthy way of acknowledging the importance of your life. Consider it time to spend on yourself, to refresh, to live in the moment, and consider what your next step in life may be. You may find once you get started, your pen will be in the hand of a ready writer.

I was, and still am, veryexcited when my first blog post took off on 16th June 2009. That was really my dream come true.Since thenI really enjoyed writing and making friends with other bloggers all over the world, learning much from them and contributing
in whatever little ways I can. We add values to each other?s lives. So,
to me, blogging has to be one of the best hobbies. It can be a hobby on
top of your hobby.
It is a lot of hard work initially as I learned how to blog and how
to do it well. I am still learning how to be a better blogger, to write valuable contents and to social network with others.
After just about 2 months into blogging, I have come to a conclusion that there are tremendous benefits in blogging and that blogging is highly beneficialfor everyone,
both young and old. I have seen people of all ages blogging and posting
awesome, inspiring articles. Nothing is easy in the beginning but if
you don?t give up but keep learning, you will find lots of amazing stuff that you can do with your blog. I have here:
Top 11 Reasons Why Blogging Is Beneficial For Everyone
Quickens your thought flow and helps you to communicate more effectively
Because you have to write, you have to put your thoughts together so
that it flows. You learn to be more precised and focused. In doing so,
you are able to communicate more effectively without beating around the
bush. The more you blog, the more your thoughts flow more smoothly and
the more engaging you are to your readers or listeners.
Makes you a better thinker, learner and writer
As is always said, ?You stop growing when you stop learning?.
Blogging is a good way to make you keep learning. As you read other
people?s blogs and make research for your own blog posts, you naturally
become a better thinker, learner and writer.
Make new friends all over the world to exchange information and to encourage each other.
There are millions of bloggers all over the world and lots of them
share the same interest as you. Blogging opens up huge opportunities to
connect and make friends with them and share your interest and
information with them. There are many friendly and helpful bloggers
around. I have already met many. The many social media networks make
such connection possible and easy.
Motivates you to learn and add value to your own life
As long as you have the right motive and purpose, blogging motivates
you to learn. The more you learn, the more informed you are and the
more confident you become. You become more confident to write, to share
and to communicate with others. By so doing, you are adding values to
your own life, making your life more meaningful and fulfilled.
Enables you to contribute and add value to other people?s life
Not only do you add more values to your own life but you add values to
other people?s lives too as you contibute useful information through
your blog. I have benefitted a lot from reading other people?s blog
posts all these years. They have added much values to my life without
them even knowing it. It is a noble thing to add values to other
people?s lives without expecting anything in return from them.
Makes you more creative and gives you the freedom and leverage to do so
Blogging makes you a more creative person, especially so in areas that
demand more creativity like photography, art, music, cooking, wood work
and so forth. It can include creative writings. As you write, you are
actually keeping a journal of your interests which itself is very
self-motivating. It has the potential to spark off more creativity.
It is therapeutic through expressions in writing
By writing about things you are passionate about, whether just personal
ramblings, your business or your hobbies, helps you to distract and
de-stress. It has proven to be therapeutic. It is possible to help a
person out of depression as he/she lays down all unpleasant feelings in
words. It can be very encouraging when other people suffering similar
conditions are helped through his/her blog.
Potential to start a business and make money
Blogging helps to build up your profile on the web in a good way if you
project yourself well as one who is very helpful, friendly, kind and
knowlegeable in your field of expertise. In time, as you keep on
writing good contents, there?s a big potential to make money out of it.
You can sell your products or service online and also earn from adverts
placed on your blog.
Cost very little or even free
It doesn?t cost much to have a blog. If you use a paying platform like
Hostgator which I?m using, you pay about $10 per month which I find is
affordable and a great investment into a very good activity or hobby.
It is an investment into my life. It is money worth spent. Otherwise,
you can go for a free platform like Blogger which many people are
using. Then of course you need a digital camera to take pictures for
your blog to make your blog more interesting and outstanding. If not,
there are a lot of free digital photos for download from the web.
Blog wherever you are and anytime you like
There?s so much flexibility in blogging. You own your blog and you can
do what you want with it. You can post as often as you like and anytime
you want. You can even keep writing and schedule them for posting at a
later date. And if your blog is making money, how cool is that to be
travelling or on holiday and still be able to write and make more money.
Learn a lot without having to travel and pay
These days learning online is very popular and a preferred option for
many. Any information you want, you can just google it. There are lots
of professionals out there who are very willing to share their
expertise for free. You can learn a lot from others for free as you can
learn a lot from my blog here for free too.

motivates you in the first place? What is your blog about? What
benefits do you see in blogging? Please share, add and comment in the

You can read here about My First Blog Post - My Dream Come True.
Another article about my blogging journey, how I got it all started, is
on the way. You will learn what I did wrong and what I did right. In
the mean time I?ll keep learning and keep smiling to be a better
blogger, adding good contents for you. My goal is always to be a
consistent, happy learner to live a happy, fulfilled and meaningful
life. I want to keep learning and keep smiling. I hope that?s your goal
too.
Quote of the day?..
?Don?t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what
they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What
you believe, remember, you can achieve.?
Writer?s block is a chronic condition that impacts all writers. And that means everyone because we?re all writers. Writer?s Block episodes are temporary situations but we prolong the agony when we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by IT rather than meeting, managing and mastering this challenge.
Writer?s Block provides us the opportunity to get out of our overthinking heads return to our bodies and get in touch with our self--our emotionality, our spirituality and our physicality. Did I leave anything out?
Rather than playing old mind games and/or running away grab your Journal and put it to work for you on this writer?s block challenge: an opportunity requesting action.
1. Just do It Write Get out your journal notebook and drain the swamp as fast as you can.Writer?s Block has a real problem with things creative so simply write, write, write. Set a timer and see how many pages you do in 10, 20 or 30 minutes. Keep the water bottle at the ready.
2. Start from Where You?re At Do what Journal Writer Preet Juneja says works for her ?Penning down feelings like 'I don't feel like writing or don't know what to write'... Let your mind get rid of that block first - a gradual process but it works!? And Dawn Herring of JournalWriter Freelance adds ?If I write about anything that is bothering me, as in an underlying issue, in my journal, it helps to free up my mind to write other things. Sometimes I'll write an essay or story concerning that underlying issue which is an automatic writer's block eliminator?.
3. Burn the Baggage
Anger, resentment, envy, loss and tough times are the titles of these clever journals that you can use for 30 days (you alternate?one day you write positively, one day you write negatively). It comes in PDF form so you can download it and get started write away.
4. Face the Music Pick out some music, music sing with it, dance to it and play with it. Maybe some lyrics will prompt you to journal; maybe your feelings will get you going to the page.Consider Mari L. McCarthy
5. Poetry in Motion
Never written a poem before?
Just start putting words on a page anyway you want, connect the words
or paste in a picture and write down the words that you see, hear, smell touch and taste from it.
ODE on a WRITER'S BLOCK
I see you?re with me all the time,
You love to screw up all my rhymes
But I?ve searched everywhere and now I know
Working with you makes me grow.
I no longer run away,
I?m interested in what you have to say
I created you of that I?m sure
And grasping this makes me secure
So as a team back to the page we go
To invent new lines for the world to show!
7. Multitask and Make it Last Add in meditation with your journaling. Pose a question like, ?How do I get over this Writer?s Block episode??Bring the question into the meditation for 4-5 minutes and then write the answer in your journal.
8. Interview with the Vampire Be Clark Kent or Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane and find out what Mr. or Ms. Writer?s Block story is and conduct the interview in your Journal.
9. Take a Hike To an online writing class. A place like Writer?s College has all kinds of different types of writing classes. They just added a class on ?Shadow Writing? where you learn to work with your subconscious and collective unconscious?
How do you use your Journal to negotiate a win-win with Writer?s Block?
