Goodwill brick-and-mortar stores have been a charitable organization for a long time, and in recent years, re-branding themselves as less of a donation center, and more of a quality thrift shopping experience. With a mixture of both donated and gently used items, also had attracted a number of retailers and wholesalers donating new merchandise that had gone unsold in stores like LL Bean and Macys, among others. These retailers also got a beneficial tax break while helping the Goodwill organization raise money for a variety of causes.
Now, GoodwillToo.com is an online store for savvy shoppers looking for some steals and deals, primarily offering new merchandise, but you may find a special one-of-a-kind item donated to the stores as well. Goodwill Too has this to say about the online shopping experience:
Goodwill Too is an online Goodwill store with a difference. Where the traditional Goodwill store offers mostly donated goods, Goodwill Too offers its customers mostly brand new merchandise (often closeouts and other similar purchases, keeping costs down), with a scattering of gently used merchandise. Our merchandise is categorized and we have a category called "Gently Used Merchandise" where the majority of our donated items are kept. We also mark our donated items "-Donated-" so customers can distinguish these items from the brand new merchandise.
Goodwill Too, at present, offers flat-fee shipping on its orders, with standard shipping costing only $7.99 for any order weighing up to 150 lbs (actual or dimensional weight). We only ship to U.S. destinations, however, including Alaska, Hawaii, and the U.S. territories, and we only accept U.S. currency in payment. At this time, all purchases are processed through PayPal. One does not have to have a PayPal account to make a purchase.
For Breast Cancer Awareness specific products, I've found three items currently on the Goodwill Too site: $8.99 Donation information: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to Breast Cancer Research and the Cancer Wellness Center committed to enhancing the quality of life for those affected by breast cancer.
$8.99 Donation information: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to Breast Cancer Research and the Cancer Wellness Center committed to enhancing the quality of life for those affected by breast cancer.
$11.99 Donation information: $1 from the sale of this product goes to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and genetic research worldwide.
Visit the Goodwill Too online store now to buy these pink ribbon products and other steals / deals when you shop for a cause.
So I didn't really post anything in December because I spent some time traveling, and spending lots of time with family and friends this holiday season. One of those trips included a visit with my dad (battling cancer) - I'm happy to report he's doing very well, and hoping to go home soon, as he's just over halfway done with his radiation treatment.
One of my personal new year's resolutions is to post more on this blog every month to help raise money for cancer research foundations. While breast cancer awareness and research will continue to be my primary focus, I may post more often about other cancer fundraising programs and research organizations.
I'm pleasantly surprised by the interest level of people coming here to look for certain pink ribbon products, mostly likely to give as gifts this holiday season. Instead of pink ribbon sales waning after Breast Cancer Awareness Month, products like the GUESS Breast Cancer watch, the Nintendo DS Lite Pink Ribbon Edition, and breast cancer awareness charm bracelets continue to be popular with breast cancer research conscious shoppers.
If you're planning to Think Pink this holiday season, be sure to take advantage of all the online sales the Friday after Thanksgiving (aka 'Black Friday') and on Cyber Monday, keep these places in mind to shop for nearly anyone on your list, or that special person affected by breast cancer.

Now, just in time for the holiday shopping season, you can save big, score some killer electronics and tech gadgets for the geeks you love, while supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation and shopping for a good cause.
As Black Friday is typically a self-serving day for retailers to try and make as much money as possible, one retail group has decided to paint Black Friday pink. CompUSA and TigerDirect, leading retailers of consumer electronics and technology products, are branding November 28 as ?Pink Friday? for the second year in a row and expect to raise more than $250,000 from a portion of total sales and from customer donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world?s largest breast cancer organization.
In addition to a minimum guaranteed donation from CompUSA and TigerDirect, customers can get involved in the following ways:
Customers will have the opportunity to donate $1, $5, $10 or $20 on top of their in-store or on-site purchase to Komen for the Cure. A live webcast will be available on www.CompUSA.com and www.TigerDirect.com from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. in which limited quantities of products will be sold at 50 percent off their list price, with the full proceeds of the sale products going directly to Komen.
Then, set yourself a reminder to shop online at one of these stores between 8 AM & 5 PM on Friday, November 28th.
No word yet on specific products offered in the promotion, but there should be plenty to choose from, as both online stores have a huge selection of computer accessories, digital cameras, MP3 players, video game consoles and popular video games like Guitar Hero, digital picture frames and more.
